- In Dec 2020, Bayer completed acquisition of Asklepios BioPharmaceutical Inc. and launched a cell and gene therapy platform within its pharmaceuticals division. Bayer acquired AskBio in $2 billion upfront and up to $2 billion in milestone payments.
- In Dec 2013, Bayer acquired Algeta SA in $2.9 billion, focused on developing alpha-pharmaceuticals, a class of therapeutic that utilizes properties of alpha-particle emitters to destroy cancer cells.
- In 2006, Bayer acquired Schering AG (In $19.5 billion) to form Bayer Schering Pharma AG, which in 2011 merge with Bayer HealthCare AG.
