Bayer HealthCare AG is subsidiary of Bayer AG group, which has three major sub-groups-Bayer HealthCare, Bayer CropScience and Bayer Material Science. Bayer HealthCare AG has further four divisions – Animal Health, Consumer Care, Medical Care and Pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical Division is the largest entity of Bayer HealthCare and is known as Bayer Pharma AG and employs nearly 38000 employees worldwide and contributes to approx. €11 billion in annual revenue.

- In Dec 2020, Bayer completed acquisition of Asklepios BioPharmaceutical Inc. and launched a cell and gene therapy platform within its pharmaceuticals division. Bayer acquired AskBio in $2 billion upfront and up to $2 billion in milestone payments.
- In Dec 2013, Bayer acquired Algeta SA in $2.9 billion, focused on developing alpha-pharmaceuticals, a class of therapeutic that utilizes properties of alpha-particle emitters to destroy cancer cells.
- In 2006, Bayer acquired Schering AG (In $19.5 billion) to form Bayer Schering Pharma AG, which in 2011 merge with Bayer HealthCare AG.
